Pentamento by Manteca Just so this tab makes sense, remember that the song is in 5/4 time, the notes basically just fall on the first (1) and fourth (4) beats of that rhythm |----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |--3---3--3---3--| |----------------| x 16 or something; some even number |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--3---3--3---3--1---1--1---1----------------3---3--3---3--| |------------------------------2---2--2---2----------------| x 2 or so Played behind the flute, obviously Then... |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1----------------| |----------------4---4--4---4--| |------------------------------| x 2 |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1--4---3--1----------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------2---2--2---2--| |---------------------------2--4---4--4---4----------------| Then this again! |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--3---3--3---3--1---1--1---1----------------3---3--3---3--| |------------------------------2---2--2---2----------------| x 2 |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1----------------| |----------------4---4--4---4--| |------------------------------| x 2 |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1--4---3--1----------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------2---2--2---2--| |---------------------------2--4---4--4---4----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |--3---3--3---3--| |----------------| x A heck of a lot Then - hey, ya know, why not this again? Let's give the flute a nice solo... |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--3---3--3---3--1---1--1---1----------------3---3--3---3--| |------------------------------2---2--2---2----------------| x 2 |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1----------------| |----------------4---4--4---4--| |------------------------------| x 2 |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1--4---3--1----------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------2---2--2---2--| |---------------------------2--4---4--4---4----------------| Then some stuff happens, just fooling around with the C, Bb, F#, C pattern, and then... |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1----------------| |----------------4---4--4---4--| |------------------------------| x 2 |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1--4---3--1----------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------2---2--2---2--| |---------------------------2--4---4--4---4----------------| ...twice! |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1----------------| |----------------4---4--4---4--| |------------------------------| x 2 |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |----------------------------------------------------------| |--1---1--1---1--4---3--1----------------------------------| |--------------------------------------------2---2--2---2--| |---------------------------2--4---4--4---4----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |----------------| |--3---3--3---3--| |----------------| x Repeat to fade And there's another great Manteca song YOU can now stumble through! Yay! Such a great song; a soothing Celtic breezy feel to it, so smooth that it doesn't even feel like it's in an odd time signature... But yeah, just make sure you get locked in the 1 and 4 beat pocket, and everything will be fine! Colleen played flute on this song at the Sean O'Sullivan theatre in St. Catharines a couple nights ago, and it sounded just magnificent - great job! Jam on! ~ Alex D.
